Part 4: Driving Out Demons

When the storms of life come, the wicked are whirled away,
but the godly have a lasting foundation.

— Proverbs 10:25 (NLT)
Part Overview
  • Content: Reference Material, Practical Advice
  • Synopsis: Overview of doctrinal errors associated with exorcism followed by a biblical guide to exorcism and advice for recovering demoniacs.
  • Themes:
    • Common exorcism practices can be deceptive. Both modern and ancient exorcists have made many unbiblical claims about exorcism. Understanding how to spot false teaching, what these specific claims entail, and where they deviate from Scripture is of vital importance for those who serve in an exorcism ministry.
    • An exorcism is a confrontation between God and demons. The Bible teaches that God is the one who exerts power over demons. A minister does not expel a demon by personal force of will. It only happens when God wills it.
    • Recovery from demonization is a process. Not only can demonization last quite some time, changing sinful habits can also be a gradual process. God walks with us through these dark valleys, but resolution happens on His timetable and not ours. Full recovery will not necessarily be instantaneous.
